REDNESS AND VEINS

Red skin, flushing and prominent blood vessels are common in patients of all ages and affect both men and women.

It can be a cause of embarrassment and affect emotional wellbeing.

Common skin concerns that can cause redness include:

  • Rosacea

  • Broken capillaries

  • Rosy cheeks

  • Large pores

  • Spider veins

  • Leg veins

  • Periorificial dermatitis

What treatment options are available?

The first step is the correct diagnosis of the condition. Then a treatment plan can be made. This is particularly important for conditions like rosacea and periorificial dermatitis as these conditions are often mistaken for acne or eczema and incorrect treatment can unfortunately make the condition worse.

Laser Vein Treatment

At CWM and Skin Clinic we have a high powered laser, the Excel V™ The laser works by targeted red, blue, purple and brown pigments in veins and skin lesions. The treatment works by collapsing the red blood cells in the vein. The body then removes these damaged cells, reducing the appearance of the veins and restoring a more even skin tone.

Unlike IPL, a vascular laser is safe to use for all skin types.

It is suitable for treating all skin types and is the gold standard of vascular skin treatments.

There may be medicare rebates available for treating rosacea, birthmarks and broken capillaries on the face. Dr Purnell will be able to advise you if a rebate is available for your condition.
